Summary | 0001651: Building Constructions, Other Labors Will Result In Idling When Finished - Ocean Biome? |
Description | Twice now I have embarked at locations bordering an ocean biomes, and both times my dwarves have been struck with an affliction I've named "Ocean Madness." That is, after constructing something, most often a construction but not limited to them, they will go idle and sit next to their creation until they get thirsty or hungry enough to leave their current activity, or I reload the game. Most seem happy to sleep in the spot.
This hasn't been a problem in the other locations I've embarked to, only the two including ocean biomes (one an island and one not) showed the signs. It also seems to not be limited to building, and my miners have begun to show similar symptoms where they didn't before, though they head back to a meeting hall as opposed to sitting at the location of their work site.
I believe it's a bug, but I wouldn't put it past dwarves that, after staring long into the endless water of the ocean and the endless sky with it, they are struck by an immense apathy brought on by intense agoraphobia. |
Steps To Reproduce | Embark with an ocean biome in your area. Not sure if it has to include water, but I imagine that bit is trivial. Then, build a stretch of wall. The madness should show itself immediately if it's going to at all. |

You are absolutely sure you are playing in .31.03?
Also, does this behaviour also present itself when you attempt to construct in mid-air (IE: floors over ponds)? |

It would do that when I built in mid-air (though I believe I know what problem you're thinking of, as I DID have that separate issue), but I've found the error.
I link Dwarf Fortress through Steam, and though I had .31.03 downloaded, extracted, etc., I was using the Steam-link, which was still .31.01 . Clearing that up seemed to cure everyone's ocean madness, and thank God.
Anyways, I think it's safe to say this is no longer an issue. |

Alright, that's another bizarre error to keep note of, up there with the Vista/Seven stuff.
Thanks for investigating! |
