Summary0001745: Elk Bird lasts five days sans heart
DescriptionAfter being attacked by a Speardwarf, an Elk Bird received a red upper body, lower body, right upper leg, left upper leg, left lung, heart, and guts.
Note: it was stabbed in the heart twice, and both times it was torn.

That was six days ago.
Since then, it's managed to crawl around at full speed and survive an attack from one of my dogs. But it's still very much alive.
Steps To ReproduceAttack an Elk Bird with a spear (bronze and masterwork).

This seems to pretty much be a duplicate of 0000721, Mortal wounds are rarely mortal. This of course makes piercing weapons practically useless.

Update: guts are now blue, so the bird is actually getting better, not dying.
