Summary | 0001817: Nobles issue mandates for raw adamantine items |
Description | I'm not certain if it's a bug or just bad luck, but my nobles have made two mandates to produce raw adamantine items so far, and one export ban on them, without my fort having even found it. |

I'd say this isn't a bug you just got a nobles who really likes adamantine. If you continue to get only adamantine as things progress then come back and update us. 3 proclomations isnt enough to count out randomness. |

Check the noble's (or nobles') status screen(s), specifically the part about what materials they like, to see whether they have a preference for adamantine.

I've never had this problem, it's probably just what your specific nobles like best. Adamantine is awesome so it makes sense. |

Since when have mandates ever been easy and/or sane?
There's a reason why nobles should have all of their furniture be magma proof. ;)
If your noble loves adamantine, slade, and crystal glass, it perhaps may be time for him to have a hot bath. |

SenorPiquante, we could use an update about whether the nobles had a preference for adamantine or not. |

I already disposed of a mayor that liked raw adamantine, this is certainly at least the third time I've had such a noble through all of the fortresses I've played. My current baroness is into slade, now, too..
More annoyingly, that mayor had a like for BINS and put an export prohibition on them (of course I only noticed once the traders were leaving the map with all of my crafts goods in bins. No jail set up, so tragedy followed with my swordsdwarf guard administering "beating" to several dwarves.....)
I'm guessing this behavior isn't really a bug unless unavailable materials are -supposed- to not be requested in mandates. As for the bins thing, it's obnoxious, but it is at least something possible to comply with. If it's impossible to make slade items without modification, then slade mandates are bogus. But for adamantine, it probably falls under "suggestion" more than "bug." |

Sounds like its working as intended.
Mandates are one of those things that while technically doable, some mandates are just too outlandish to realistically accomplish. If you have a noble demanding things that are not realistic to do you may want to consider "retiring" that noble.
You can check the preferences of the dwarf in question. If the dwarf likes pig tail cloth and plump helmets, he's a keeper. Very easy to please.
If he likes adamantine and dragon bone he will start issuing unfeasible mandates as soon as he gets any power. |
