DescriptionDead Captain of the Guard's name remains in nobles list. Replacement works only temporarily.
Steps To ReproduceHave a Captain of the Guard die while in office.

Maybe its caused by the same thing that caused the multiple mayor bug which got fixed in .06?

Worth putting up a save since it sounds alot like the mayor issue.

Have you tried replacing him in the military menu or to disband the entire squad? The cause may be, that killed soldiers still hold their position in their sqad until you remove/replace them manually, so replacing your dead captain with a dwarf still alive could solve the problem.

He wasn't part of a squad at the time; at least, I don't believe he was. I can try finding a save with it happening and post it, sorry for the late reply.
