Summary | 0003464: Crashed while playing Dwarf Fortress mode |
Description | While watching a fortress descend into tantrum spiral madness (and just as I thought I was turning it around), DF crashed. I will preserve the region save files in case you want them, but it took 15 minutes or so from startup until it crashed so I doubt that this is reproducible. Terminal window text and crash report text follow:

I've also occasionally gotten this crash (twice today in about an hour, as well as previous versions more sporadically). A recent terminal output log for 0.31.17:

I wish there was an edit button.
Anyways, two things: when DF boots, it says it's using NSQuickDrawView and should be switched to Quartz. Seems like it's a graphics problem, considering the similar prefixes with the problems Terminal reports.
Second:
After a little Googling, I've found examples of similar errors. http://bugzilla.libsdl.org/show_bug.cgi?id=870 [^] is an NSAutoReleaseNoPool() error, though for a different object. It was fixed, and the guy explained how and why. People in http://www.idevgames.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7710 [^] also had errors like this, and give a much more detailed explanation (something to do with SDL and objective C not playing nicely). |

Another crash, during an ambush. Crashes during ambushes seem to be getting disturbingly common.
Here is the last text in gamelog.txt (although I'd be surprised if it was up to date as of the instant of the crash).

The Wrestler bashes The Goblin Crossbowman in the right hand with her {iron mace}, shattering the bone through the ({giant cave spider silk right glove})!
The Dog bites The Goblin Lasher in the head, but the attack is deflected by The Goblin Lasher's ({Æcopper helmØ})!
The Goblin Crossbowman gives in to pain.
The Hammerdwarf bashes The Goblin Crossbowman in the head with her (Æ+bronze war hammer+Ø), bruising the muscle and tearing the upper spine's nervous tissue through the ({cave spider silk hood})!

Goodness, walls of crash reports.
Please, in the future, upload these to pastebin, instead of posting the entire contents here? It makes it hard to read.
That being said, are you both playing on the latest version, and what specifically is going on when the game crashes?

Sorry, I was unaware of pastebin until now.
I have seen similar crashes with 0.31.16, 0.31.17, and 0.31.18. I have just had a crash which may be more enlightening. I was playing the same fortress which crashed before, from the same save; this time I was able to defeat all of the goblin invaders and got through the ambush; shortly thereafter, a kobold thief appeared, and I had my squad give chase. They chased the thief to the edge of the map, and the instant the thief reached the edge of the map, the game crashed. Of course, everything else that usually goes on with a fortress was happening at the same time, but this was very well-timed to be the cause. |
