Summary | 0003968: Crash on loading a map for embarking (after overwriting 31.18 with 31.19) |
Description | When starting to play a game, it blocks on the screen to embark. When using a size larger than the standard 4x4, it will crash without any trace (looks like the game just closed itself). Its taking way longer than usual. |
Steps To Reproduce | Install 0.31.18, overwrite it with 0.31.19, make a world, and try to do a quick embark with an area sized 5x5. Screen will crash (>5) or freeze (using standards). |

I've had this happen a few times if I aborted one worldgen and then allowed another one to complete. In one case, the embark actually finished and I found myself on a slade landscape hundreds of Z-levels tall (and some floating globs of water/magma deep below). |

from gamelog.txt:
Generating world using parameter set CREATE WORLD NOW = 533511

It also occurs when playing adventurer. I checked it completely, and it seemed that the memory spikes to 500 mb for the 4x4 map, and over 2 gig for the rest. It doesnt matter where it is located. |

After having this problem occur at two different embark locations on the same world, I genned an adventurer. It looks like the magma sea genned on top of the surface. If someone else could verify/duplicate this with their own adventurer offering to the magma gods, that would eliminate my worldgen prefs as a possible cause.

Okay, it seems Urist McGates found a way to suprise me.
I deleted everything, made a complete fresh install, and Urist McDwarf is not a black screen anymore.
So it has to do something when overwriting the old version (.18) with the new version (.19). |

|
Yeah, don't overwrite one version with another. |
