Summary | 0000576: Diplomat "Leaves Unhappily" if expedition leader dies |
Description | As soon as the announcement for a Caravan/Liaison arrival occurs, the "The Diplomat Has Left Unhappy" immediately pops up, and he/she leaves before they even enter my screen. |
Steps To Reproduce | |
Additional Information | This has happened with multiple diplomats on the same site, but this is my first DF2010 fort so I have no idea about reproducibility |

This just happened to me, however, my Expedition Leader recently met an untimely end compliments of a forgotten beast. |

I think this is related to 0000141, as when this was occurring my expedition leader was dead as well. |

I think you need an expedition leader, mayor or higheer-up noble to conduct meetings at all. This goes well with the bug that removes all noble positions upon death of the expedition leader. |

This may be intended behavior then. In both our instances, our Expedition Leaders were dead. If a meeting requires that position or higher, then it was working correctly.
A suggestion would be to allow the Broker to accept the diplomats, but then we'd get bug reports when both the Expedition Leader and Broker were dead...
Not sure here, may have to just protect our Expedition Leaders better. |

It should assign or let you assign a new one if your old one dies. |

I had the liaison leave when my Expedition leader was in a fey mood. |

Could we merge all these "diplomat leaves unhappy" bugs, perhaps? There seem to be a lot of them, and most include "... because leader is dead" in the title, which is not the case I saw.
My elven liaison just left unhappily either because my mayor is in a strange mood, or because my drawbridge happened to be retracted at the time of his arrival. Even though I immediately sent someone to pull the lever. I can't say for sure which of the two caused it.

Is it a bug? It sound like feature - disgusted diplomat irritated by awful fort (or cowardly running for his life). |
|
|
|
I had a similar incident: If you replace your mayor while the diplomat is on map, he instantly leaves disgusted. Apparently, when he arrives, he's looking for a specific dorf to hold a meeting with; and his target cannot change. |

This one may be fixed - Expedition leaders now change based on the new sucession mechanic. I had my expedition leader chosen to be king in my only fort in 0.34.XX so far, and another dwarf was chosen to be expedition leader. However, if the expedition leader dies or is replaced while the outpost liason is in the site, he still leaves unhappy.

Leaving unhappy because the expedition leader dies while the liaison is on-site makes sense and is probably intended. Leaving unhappy because the expedition leader has been replaced is a bit more iffy.
BTW: I can confirm that expedition leaders are being replaced automatically now. Death should no longer cause a vacancy in that position.

|
|
|
The specific bug this references is indeed fixed, since the expedition leader is automatically replaced. However, the (bug?) of the diplomat leaving then the expedition leader dies is still around. |
