Summary | 0006854: Pulped body parts don't get severed arteries or functional impairment |
Description | I'd think that a creature that has had its throat pulped into "an unrecognizable mass" would bleed out or suffocate, but this doesn't seem to happen. |
Steps To Reproduce | Bash a creature in the throat until it gets pulped. |

The same goes for necks. I bashed an unconscious dude in the neck and tore his upper spine's nervous tissue. Then I hit his neck again and pulped it, and he didn't suffocate. |
|
|
|
I think the neck is supposed to be behind the throat. Like the neck bone. |

Check if "an unrecognizable mass" status equates to pulping. If you can still attack that body part and if it appears red-colored on your enemy physical description, it means it hasn't been pulped yet. |

Tested in arena. Wounds show upper spine nervous tissue as "cut apart" and "compound fracture" after severe blunt trauma (the injured part collapses into a lump of gore!), the human (who is totally average) still keeps walking and has no problem with anything. Pain is gone, only had bleeding when hit.
Pretty sure necks have a problem right now. |

The "unrecognizeable mass" and "collapses into a lump of gore" messages are almost definitely pulping-related, as they are the very same messages used back in the Old combat system of 0.28.181.40d and earlier whenever you dealt a lethal blow to a body part.

I was talking about the throat, not the neck, but I guess there's a problem with that too. |

If you look at description after such hit, the enemy throat only has bruised status and nothing more. |

Okay. I just ripped a goblin's throat into "loose shreds" and it was only marked as bruised. |
|
|
|
I have seen "unrecognizeable mass" message and the affected part was only bruised.
It seems that the messages from the old combat system are just too dramatic compared to damage in the new system. |

Rafal99: The messages from the old combat system are supposed to signify that a part has been "pulped." Pulped is the point at which even necromancers can't reanimate the part. For all intents and purposes it should be considered missing, due to the extreme level of damage it has sustained. I'd think that any part of the body of any animal being "cloven asunder," "smashed into an unrecognizable mass," "torn into loose shreds," "incinerated," "shattered," etc. would have taken enough damage to the point of having little to no structural integrity and a complete loss of function. |
