Its not quite that simple, actually. They will put the adamantine strands in a cloth stockpile if and only if there is a thread bin with open space in it. They will not put them strands onto empty stockpile squares, or start a new bin with adamantine. Same for cloth. |

Put simply, additional categories for "Thread (Metal)" and "Cloth (Metal)" should be added for cloth stockpiles. Ideally, this could be done by adding a new material definition token similar to [THREAD_PLANT], [SILK], and [YARN] ([THREAD_METAL] comes to mind, but that's already used in a fashion similar to [METAL_ORE]).
Ideally, "metal cloth" could be simplified to "inorganic cloth" and permit user-modded materials such as asbestos or synthetic fibers, but there would still have to be a distinction between ordinary inorganic fibers and something as special as adamantine...

Version 0.31.22 added the token [STOCKPILE_THREAD_METAL], which seems to be exactly what I was suggesting in my comment above. 0002737 seems to be a duplicate of this, or vice-versa.
