Description | My dwarves had decided to shun the outside world and were all walled off safely in the earth's embrace, ignoring the traders and invaders who would occasionally show up, complain, and go away again (well, except the outpost liaison, who has been waiting patiently at the edge of the map for several years now).
But this last lot declared that they were going to depart, having not got further than the edge of the map, while waiting around in the vain hope that I'd build them a trade depot. I didn't take much notice until a bit later when, after I'd expected them to be long gone, all the merchants and their animals went mad and were struck down by their guards.
The only thing that makes this different from the other merchants giving up on me is that the spot where the first merchant went berserk was up a tree.
Is it possible that he climbed the tree while waiting around, since climbing happens while dwarves are idle, but then couldn't path out of the tree since climbing isn't used for pathing to a task (in this case the task being "go home")?
