0007823: Abandoned houses immediately collapse when loaded
Entering a city infested with undead after learning the secrets of life and death. This happened at night just outside the town keep. Clouds of boiling magma and sandy clay/peat bursts hit zombies/people.

Not sure what this even is.

This did not happen to an earlier adventurer entering the same area.
.. load save? This is beyond me.

Did you do any post-worldgen modding?

No, not really. This is a clean DF-only install, no file editing, therapist or even tilesets. I changed the init file to turn sound and intro off but that's the entire extent of changes I've done from the clean install.

After actually finding out the the "clouds of boiling magma" message could refer to cave-in dust hitting creatures, I will throw in a theory for this bug.

A lot of citizens were dying under a criminal necromancer organization in this city. When my first adventurer went there, the houses were in good shape. By the second visit, some houses had become "abandoned" due to people dying/being registered as dead. When the houses were modified, the modifications made parts of the houses that were left intact structurally unsound, causing cave-ins on the (sometimes zombie) occupants.

Witnessing the cave-ins is probably intentional, and the "boiling magma" messages were taken care of in the version (40.06) after the one this report was for (40.05) - see 0001638.

It's hokey for them to collapse at the exact instant you arrive -- I doubt they're supposed to collapse at all.

I've also seen this behavior, but only with shrines. Parts of the roof collapse when the location loads. These aren't shrines I've visited before, either - they appear to be generated unstable.
