Summary0008008: Idle dwarfs do not dump wood
DescriptionI selected lots of wood for dumping (trying to 'quantum storage' it), but none of the 7 idle dwarves wanted anything to do with it.

Note that:
- 'Dump' items were indoors
- Wood hauling was enabled
- There is an active dump zone (on the roof)

Did you also set them to haul ouside refuse? By default they are set to ignore outdoor refuse which also makes them ignore outdoor dumping orders.

The wood is located in a tile marked "Inside", but the "Outside" refuse collection toggle actually controls whether "Above Ground" refuse is collected (0001140). Toggling the standing order to gather refuse from "Outside" got the dwarves to haul the wood up to the roof.

As an additional note, it is not necessary (and, in fact, rather dangerous) to "quantum stockpile" things by dropping them several z-levels. If you just designated the dump zone where you wanted the wood to end up, your dwarves would haul it there directly, without any chance of falling timber staving in your carpenter's cranium.

Wait, you mean they won't take refuse from inside to outside unless they also are set to take refuse from outside?

That sounds silly enough to be a bug in itself. :P

No. They don't take refuse from "Above Ground" tiles unless the standing order to ignore "Outside" refuse is disabled. Yes, the confusing conflict between "Inside/Outside" and "Above Ground/Subterranean" is a bug, and is already reported as 0001140.

Not sure if this should be re-opened, or a new bug started.

Anyway, it's now "idle dwarves will not dump blocks". Orders are set NOT to ignore refuse outside, I have 6 idle dwarves with refuse hauling enabled and they are ignoring the dozen or so blocks I 'dumped' because I wanted them to be moved.

Save includes Pheobe's tiles, the plant fix changes and I've improved dwarf gait stats. Nothing that should affect this behavior, though.

They dumped the blocks after I canceled the wall construction jobs at the corners of the map. Something about those jobs is causing a hangup.

I think it may have something to do with changing stockpile areas after planning construction jobs?

Dwarves won't dump items that are tasked for jobs. Those items do not show a TSK indication (0001027).
