0008316: Game freezes when attacking when surrounded by too many creatures
When adjacent to a large number of creatures, aiming an attack causes the game to freeze. This happens whether you aim with 'A' or just walk into a large group of enemies. However, if you are next to a large group of enemies, but you walk into a small group on a different square, the game does not freeze. It does not seem to matter whether or not the creatures are friendly.
Aim an attack when adjacent to about a large number of creatures (maybe about a dozen).

@footkerchief: No, this is completely different. I've had this with goblin towers that are chock full of them on the top floor and they all bunch together scrambling for the exit.

I can't get it to reproduce in the arena, however I've had it when I was trying to attack a yeti while I had about 200 undead minions who weren't attacking back.

That won't be too hard, it happens with the uber crowded dark fortresses.

Here's a save: http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=9746. [^] I noticed something else important: The freeze seems directly tied to how much screen real estate is available. Zooming in with the scroll wheel makes the freeze more likely to occur, as does shrinking the game window. With the given save, the freeze will occur if you press 'A' without changing the window size or zooming in. If you maximize the window on a 1920x1080 monitor (or larger, presumably), the freeze will not occur. If you maximize the window and then zoom in with the scroll wheel, the freeze will occur again.

Here's one in 40.13, the situation is already primed, just press shift+a and the game will freeze up and not respond.

You know, I haven't seen the bit where you page to look at more things to attack, I wonder if the lack of that is causing it to freeze when the UI overflows.

Still in 40.19......

I think this should be categorized as a block, or maybe a crash.
