Summary | 0008779: Adventurer encounters naked, mute, hostile dwarven expedition leader |
Description | Checking out an asterisk on the fast travel screen led my adventurer to a naked dwarf, titled "expedition leader," who did not respond to my attempts at conversation and entered "no quarter" combat with me once she saw my character. Notably, she did not ambush my adventuring party. |
Steps To Reproduce | Download this save and open region 3 (Athira Sinaru). The expedition leader is about 20 tiles to the southwest of my adventurer. |
Additional Information | According to Legends mode, this dwarf is the expedition leader of a local hillocks. There is no other information given about her; in particular, she has not received a werebeast curse. Interestingly, she is only listed as a member of the hillocks and NOT as a member of the associated civilization. Could the game be treating her as an outsider for that reason? |

"Download this save"? Which one? Try uploading your save folder to http://dffd.bay12games.com/ [^] and posting links (full address of upload file page) here. |

Yeah, I forgot to upload the save initially. I've been trying to upload it for the past five hours, but DFFD keeps giving me errors halfway through the upload process. |

Here's the file link. I uploaded it from a public library rather than my house, and the upload process worked out fine. Maybe my ISP is throttling my upload bandwith, who knows.

I'm having the same problem in 43.03, with lords and ladies as well as with expedition leaders. I checked legends and they don't seem like they're bandits or have any other reason to attack my adventurer (and why won't they talk to me?!). |

The description of this bug needs a rewrite. There are at least two concurrent issues here.
Issue A: Dwarven civilizations include an expedition leader with every unit sent out to found a new site after the end of worldgen. Unlike the mayor, the expedition leader is not assigned a residence and just wanders aimlessly around the site and the surrounding area.
Issue B: When no existing historical figures are available to fill local government roles at a new site, the game elevates to historical status members of the abstracted population at the starting point of the expedition. However, the game does not always mark them as members of the dwarven civilization, in addition to being members of the new site government.
