Summary | 0001077: Extremely wounded dwarf won't stay in bed
Description | Surgery was canceled when the arsenal dwarf decided that he NEEDED to get that paperwork done (the arsenal dwarf paperwork). While I admire his dedication to duty, he made it 5 squares before passing out. He continued to pass out at 5-10 square intervalls all the way to the door of his office, when he decided he was dehydrated, and started crawling back out of the fort to get water. He made it about halfway out before dying of dehydration.
Additional Information | I never tried taking his position away (was curious what would happen). It seems like there's a mismatch in priorities there. Possibly 'passing out' should reset the diagnosis screen and require the dwarf to get carried back to the hospital. (Docs might need to learn triage, if that were the case) Another possibility is dehydration as a medical condition requiring a hospital visit. Rather than dying, they get maybe a month of unconcious comma.

Having the same issue. A forgotten beast had a breath attack that has got me sacrificing all my war elephants and 5 dwarves are completely rotting. I managed to clean them from the ichor that was rotting them (3-4 others died from the rot), however I can't practice surgery on them because they stop resting. So now I have all these dwarves that can't have surgury to remove all the advanced rot and will most likely die. "cancels Surgury: Patient not resting" This is with 0.31.10. |

I have the same issue. I have a dwarf with foot and ankle injuries who cannot stand, but who can still apparently lever herself out of bed/off of a table and onto the floor, where she attempts Individual Combat Drills, even after I've taken her out of the squad. I, too, am getting the "Cancels Surgery: Patient not resting" message. Edit: This is with 0.31.10 Edit 2: Bugged save posted at http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=2768 [^] The dwarf in question is Rakust Datanottem. |

It would be helpful to upload saves demonstrating this problem to http://dffd.wimbli.com/ [^] |

I've been having this problem in 0.31.10 as well; one of my squad leaders had his arm seriously mangled, breaking bones in his shoulder, arm, and some hand damage. After getting diagnosed and washed, he got picked up for surgery and took it as a sign that he was dismissed, running off to the barracks to train. On occasion, he'd sleep in the hospital instead of his room, prompting the doctors to try again, waking him to take him to the table and causing another cancellation. After the most recent such episode, I made a temporary burrow that contained only the hospital zone--not even paths to the food and booze stockpiles that my normal Hospital burrow has for when I need to lock the doctors in it. Since he couldn't get out, the squad leader wouldn't cancel resting when moved for surgery. So now, his health history reads as: Early fall -- diagnosed and cleaned Late fall (two years later) -- Compound fractures of left thumb and upper arm set (via surgery), re-evaluated (due to infections having set in), and re-cleaned One of my doctors is in the process of suturing up all the open wounds, and I hope will continue on with dressings, setting the thumb bone that needs it yet, and applying an arm cast. Once I can release him from the hospital burrow confinement, I'll look through my military for some other dwarves with outstanding treatments and see if I can repeat my results. |
