Summary | 0001653: Ocean Ice Sheets unstable.
Description | I am playing an adventurer in a medium sized island world generated with two differences from the normal creation: More civilizations, and caves visible from map. A world was generated with an inhabited mainland and a smaller island to the northeast of that also inhabited by several civilizations. On this map, my adventurer dwarf, Mafol Hammerwaves, has killed every lairing mega beast within reach. Desirous of killing the last three such critters, he had a need to swim from the mainland to the other island. On the way, in four seperate places, he has encountered zone sized ice sheets that inexplicably disintegrate, causing massive amounts of water flow in the area causing framerate to bottom out (And provide an incredible hazard to travel, what with getting sucked down to the seafloor when the water inexplicably vanishes under you for two floors causing your prompt banishment to Davy Jones Locker). The issue persists with temperature and weather turned off. The save game is too large to upload to the DFFD, clocking in at 114 MB when zipped. Hopefully the seed will be of use, though I doubt it will be needed.
Steps To Reproduce | Swim out to sea near your frozen pole with an adventurer trying to cross from one landmass to another. I did it with the following: Seed: 530015184 History Seed: 1191959208 Name Seed: 1523661720 Creature Seed: 3638911712

In cold areas of ocean ice is formed overnight, which melts early in the morning. To reproduce find an area of ice at night that is near the border between ocean ice / ocean water. Walk (or crawl) around until dawn arrives. The game will freeze for several minutes (around seven minutes in my case). When it starts up again you will be on the ocean floor and drowning. Using careful movement allows you to go up/diagonal to the surface (if you aren't too deep). Save file: http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=10411 [^] Protip: If you sleep on ice until it melts, none of this happens. You just wake up swimming on the surface. :P |
