Summary | 0001721: Straight, rectilinear cliff edges
Description | In 31.x absolutely staight cliff edges became extremely frequent. Here's one of the most obvious examples: http://i41.tinypic.com/dvom07.jpg [^] . I guess it is related to 0000142.

Yeah, I've noticed this as well. I'm not sure exactly how we should go about helping Toady track this down... probably worldgen parameters + screenshots of location. |
(0006012) Darayavaush (reporter) 2010-05-03 10:55 |
it happens in EVERY world, so that's of no use, I think. |

They do seem to happen in every world, yeah, but they're not so frequent that he wouldn't have to spend time wandering around to find them. I think they occur predictably around volcanoes, but I'm not sure. It's possible that they're generally related to the presence of underground map features. Any legwork we can do to provide concrete info and investigate causes will help Toady fix bugs faster. |

this particular site didn't have a volcano, but instead a 24-tile (!) OCEAN (!!!) with 41 z-levels high surrounding cliffs (!!!!!). I guess that is something :) |

I think something like this happens on almost every map actually, if you take reveal2 and go and look all the way down to the magma lake / HFS layers. |

Probably YA duplicate of 0005077 |

That's a good hypothesis. I'll go with it. Please reopen this or PM me on the forums if the issue is still present. |
