Descriptionother than goblins (though at times they will escape) and tamed animals the attempt to pit or trade cages will release the animal.. causing mass chaos

 As a workaround, position the animals cage directly next to the pit, the closer it is the less time DF has to get confused and freak out.

 I'm marking this as a duplicate of both 0001696 and 0000480 - Instability, if you feel you have anything to contribute to those bugs, please do so in their notes, so as to centralize the discussion.

The pitting issue is very old and has a few possible workarounds, the trading issue is also very old but I'm personally unaware of workarounds.
