0008129: Positions disappear from nobles screen when expedition leader is promoted to monarch

(0029537) HopFlash (reporter) 2014-08-23 14:17	Playing along to 24th Felsite 10001 and I have the missing administrator positions back again. But something "big" happens immediately before. I made a trap way for the undeads and positioned my only fighter as last defence line (it was a very bad idea and/or implementation). My fighter died and with that the following announcements appeared: "Bomrek Ilidzon, Axedwarf has been found dead." "Bembul Cudgelkingdoms has assumed the position of expedition leader of The Symmetric Axe." Now the dialog has all positions again: king, expedition leader, militia commander, sheriff, hammerer, manager, chief medical dwarf, broker, bookkeeper

(0029799) HopFlash (reporter) 2014-08-30 07:36	ok...new additional information: I put my actual militia commander as militia captain. Then militia commander position disappeared too. Unpaused the game a little bit later one of my dwarves took the role as expedition leader and like in the comment before all positions appear again. so this could be a potential workaround I think.

My militia commander declared himself king, and then the position of militia commander disappeared from my nobles screen. The [r]eplace option was also greyed out for all noble positions. Workaround: On the military screen, I created a new, empty squad that would be led by the militia commander. I then used Dwarf Therapist to assign the new king to the squad. After committing the changes, the king was restored to the militia commander position (as well as being king), and I can appoint new militia captains once again. However, I am still unable to replace the manager, bookkeeper and broker. Additional Note: The militia commander was also expedition leader before appointing himself king. Shortly after he became king, another dwarf became expedition leader. With that, my ability to appoint nobles was restored.

(0036732) TheCrazyHamsteR (reporter) 2017-09-11 14:11 edited on: 2017-09-15 17:59	Appears to be fixed in v0.43.03. After my expedition leader got promoted to monarch, another dwarf from my fort was assigned as new expedition leader after a while, and then positions reappeared on the noble screen.

(0038378) crul (reporter) 2018-05-25 04:28 edited on: 2018-05-25 04:34	I've experimented this issue with version 0.44.10 when embarking in a civilization without king. First year of the fortress with the first immigrant wave just arrived. Urist McExpeditionLeader was the Leader, Manager and Bookkeeper. The other only noble position appointed was the Broker. Then our leader declared himself King and demanded a room better than the entire fort :). At that moment the nobles screen shows only the King and the Broker and I cannot replace any of them. I used the workaround with Dwarf Therapist told by Huntthetroll (comment 0033163) and it shows the militia commander and militia captain. Then, as other has reported, after a while, another dwarf declared expedition leader himself and then positions reappeared on the noble screen and everything works.
