Summary | 0008720: After installing graphics, game freezes upon selecting world gen. | |||||
Description | After installing Phoebus graphics into a completely fresh version of DF - no modding, no DFHack, pure vanilla - whenever I select either Create New World or advanced worldgen, this white rectangle pops up that covers whatever is behind it on the screen, and the game just freezes such that I need to force quit. I also had this problem with 40.23. Whether or not I use the TrueType init, it still happens, and I haven't found anything else helpful on Mantis. It doesn't occur without the graphics, and when I bring in saves from older versions, it runs them just fine. | |||||
Steps To Reproduce | 1. Install DF 20.24 on OSX. 2. Install Phoebus using the directions here: http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=137096.msg5764730#msg5764730 [^] 3. Highlight either Create New World or Design New World Using Advanced Parameters. 4. Press enter and watch the box come up. | |||||

Does this happen with vanilla raws in the raw/ folder? If not, this is almost certainly due to a problem with raws distributed in that graphics set (or a problem installing them). |

Most likely problem is that there are 2 Phoebus package. The full contains everything including df.exe, while the upgrade only the phoebus specific raws. Using the latter results in incomplete raws if following my instructions written for the first. User error, report can be closed. |

EDIT: I copied the raws from my (safely installed) 40.19 file into my 40.24 file, and that appears to have fixed it (as well as saving me a lot of modding). However, I'm not sure how I will fix this in the future with versions that have significant raw changes. |

Turns out I was installing the graphics wrong, copying the entire raw folders instead of their contents due to mis-reading the OSX instructions. This is incredibly embarrassing. |
