0001674: Dwarves assigned the woodcutting labor won't pick up axes and start cutting

(0005832) hyndis (reporter) 2010-05-01 11:55	Are you using DT? DT will not work for mining and woodcutting for some reason but works fine with other skills. Or are you doing this in game? If in game and they are not picking up the picks/axes, do you have the pick/axes forbidden? Are they accessible? If they're available, do you have a fortress large enough that you have an arsenal dwarf, and does the arsenal dwarf have an office to work in?

(0005987) Chrissi (reporter) 2010-05-03 02:10	I'd like to second the Dwarf Therapist comment - make sure you aren't using Dwarf Therapist for assigning or removing assignment of woodcutters or miners. I've had this problem but only when using DT. As soon as I stopped using DT to assign them, it worked fine.

(0006216) NtheGreat (reporter) 2010-05-05 16:29 edited on: 2010-05-05 17:03	I have the same problem. I have enough spare axes and an arsenal dwarf. The axes are all stockpiled. The dwarf I'm trying to get to cut wood has the labor enabled and is currently doing nothing else. The arsenal dwarf is also free, and has an office. There are trees, all accessible, which are waiting to be cut down. I haven't used Dwarf Therapist at all. I've had miners pick up pick axes on this save, and dwarves have cut down trees previously. The fact that my previous woodcutter is currently resting due to an injury might have something to do with it. EDIT: Just solved the problem. Disbanded the military and the dwarf went and got an axe. I guess my military was hogging axes from the bed.
