Summary | 0002551: Elvens cancel trade after being offered food in a barrel and broker will not go back to work
Description | I remember being able to trade prepared food with elves before but now it all seems to go into barrels. Anyway, i made the mistake of offering prepared food in a barrel to elves and they made some smart remark about 'once a beautiful tree, now a mere trade thing for your ugly race' or some such. (and this from the elves i just bought 40 units of wood and sets of wooden training weapons from.. bloody hypocrites!). anyway, sorry for that little elves rant, they refused to trade after that. when i quit the trade screen i got the message saying the elven merchants were leaving. after that the broker seems to be stuck at 'No Job'. even though he has his Mining turned on, and there are a couple of spare picks lying around.
Steps To Reproduce | have not attempted to reproduce, but i'm guessing offering the elven merchants wooden products and canceling trade might do the trick.

Is it just mining that the broker won't do? Have you tried getting him to do other jobs? Is he a member of the military? Are you sure the picks are still unforbidden, unclaimed by your military, and accessible? |

Elvens cancel trade after being offered wood isnt a glitch, if you offer it they instantly pack up and leave. |

sorry about the wrongly worded summary. the bug wasn't in the fact that the elves refused to trade but the fact that my broker wouldn't go back to work. i just assumed it was to do with the fact that the trade canceled suddenly. I checked on the status of my picks, and it turns out that they are all being used by dwarves. two of them are being carried by dwarves that do not have Mining turned on, and one of them are being carried by the soldier who continues to train even though he is not in a squad any longer (this is part of an earlier bug which turns out to be a duplicate of one already raised). i am not entirely sure, but i think the picks are all being carried by dwarves who were briefly in a squad before i disbanded all my squads. i have been waiting for a while (after toggling their Mining status) to see if they drop the picks, but no luck. they are walking around with it in their inventory. ok after waiting another 5 minutes it seems that one of the dwarfs who was in a squad has reluctantly let go of his pick, so my broker is back at work. but even so, i'm not clear why my picks are being used by the people in squads, especially when their equipment was set to use training swords and spears. not sure if i should raise a new bug for this, or just leave it here with this added note. |

Were they doing "Individual Combat Drill" after being undrafted? but even so, i'm not clear why my picks are being used by the people in squads, especially when their equipment was set to use training swords and spears. Equipment's very buggy in general. Most likely, you had set them to use "individual choice melee" earlier on, they grabbed some picks, and kept holding them after you changed the uniform (due to 0001687, and maybe 0000648 and 0000892). |

> Were they doing "Individual Combat Drill" after being undrafted? yes the two who were in the original squad are doing 'Individual Combat Drill' and are stuck doing it. let me know if there is some way of getting them unstuck or assigned to another job. |

Ah okay, then this is 0000605. See Toady's comments at 0000605:0007709 -- they should stop doing "Individual Combat Drill" eventually. |
