Summary | 0000499: Military Dwarves stuck in training | |||||
Description | I set my first and only squad up and planned a schedule in (m)->(s). They would train on alternate months, standing down and being civvies when not on training duty. I planned to change this once they got a bit of experience and some skills. I assigned the squad use of a barracks for training, sleeping and storage and, in (s), set them as active - training. Once the first scheduled month of training turned up they all fetched their training weapons and got to work. The following season I noticed they were all severely dehydrated, exhausted and miserable. They had remained in training continuously despite moving through a rest month. I tried manually changing them in (s) to inactive occassionally, but they still remain in the barracks, training to exhaustion. They will, when the schedule rolls around, run out to get food and water, but will then come straight back to the barracks for another round of grueling training. I tried amending the schedule to include months on-duty and patrolling as well, but now I am unable to add any new tasks to the schedule - on either empty months or months with training scheduled. The game lets me run through the whole process, but then the new order just fails to show up in the schedule. | |||||

Regarding the dehydration issue: Did you change the minimum number of trainees from the default 10 to 1 or 2 fewer than the number of squad members? |

@Enigma: I haven't seen it help, myself. Of course, I can't get dwarves to pick up training weapons either! |

Hmm, my dwarves won't stop individual training, but they will pick up training weapons if I make sure to specify "training axe" as the weapon type. |

I've seen this as well. it seems to reproduce consistently if you remove a dwarf from the squad while your dwarf is in the middle of an "individual training" job. What might be happening here is that the changeover at the end of a month behaves similarly and fails to remove a dwarf if that dwarf is in the middle of a training job. This leaves your soldier effectively stuck until you delete the barracks he is training in. |

Confirmed in 0.31.10. Remove the barracks to stop their training. |

Can anyone verify whether this bug still occurs or can't be reproduced by removing barracks etc? |
