Summary | 0005373: Item disappears, cannot be picked up, still listed when you look at the tile
Description | I was trying to break a stack of intestines into smaller stacks by picking it up and dropping it, and suddenly noticed that I couldn't pick it up any more. The intestines aren't visible, and I can't interact with them, but I can still see them when I 'l'ook at the tile in question. I think I've also had this happen before, with a knife that a mummy was wielding, although I didn't really give it much notice then.
Steps To Reproduce | I managed to achieve this by dropping a stack of 9 great white shark intestines on the ground from my backpack, although I don't know if any of that is actually required.
Additional Information | I uploaded a save to http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=5647, [^] and only noticed afterwards that saving and reloading actually makes the guts disappear for good! Bluh! They used to be in the square where the adventurer is standing, but are nowhere to be found now. This save is modded, with a whole bunch of adventurer reactions from Wanderer's Friend, but I'm preeetty sure that the first time (with the mummy) was vanilla DF. This might be related to 0000430, possibly even the same bug.

I managed to get this again, with the same adventurer, by buying another ten-stack of intestines, dropping them, picking up nine, and dropping the stack again. As before, saving and reloading makes the guts disappear completely. |

And now it happened in Fort Mode. There were two barrels of dwarven wine, visible in the stocks screen and visible if you loo'k' at them, but they were not actually drawn and dwarves couldn't use them. I was pretty surprised when a dwarf suddenly dropped dead from dehydration despite me having fifty drinks left. Saving and reloading the game made the barrels invisible to loo'k'ing, but they're still there in the stocks screen, and you can zoom to the tiles where they once were. Which seem to be pretty close to were my still used to be, I think. Save at http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=5741 [^] |

I'll have to check, I may have had a similar issue in my last 34.02 fort. Lots of drinks and food and dwarves complaining. I assumed it was all unreachable and/or in use, but this could explain it in well. (In Use = 500 food all in stacks of 5, 101 hungry dwarves = 1 starving dwarf.) |

I just ran into this as well testing another bug's reproducibility. Save here: http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=6080 [^] This is straight-out-of-the-box vanilla 0.34.07. Drop plump helmet stack, pick up any partial amount of the stack, step to the side, drop partial stack, plump helmets completely disappear. |

Yeah, in the specific case of an adventurer breaking a stack, it just wasn't putting the new object in the play vector properly. This doesn't have anything to do with dwarf mode barrels, but we probably want to confirm those old barrels weren't pushed by liquids, since that would also cause this kind of thing. |
