Summary | 0006184: Dwarven populations are infinitely generated in no-dwarf worlds
Description | I created a pocket region where dwarves died out in year 83. I created a fortress with the remnnant pockets of dwarves that managed to survive 1000 years without a civilization, and now I get immigrants and trade caravans like as if there were actually a full fledged dwarf civilization in the world, not just a few stragglers here and there that hear about the fort and stop coming after a year.
Steps To Reproduce | Start a fortress on the saved region here: http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=6858 [^] Play a while, and notice that every single dwarf poofs magically into legends as needed. This will go on for at least 2 or three years. This is the base save which should be a NoDwarf save, as the last recorded dwarf died in 83

Not a bug. See 0000545. |

How is this not a bug? The game is creating what doesn't exist in the legends. It's creating trading caravans from civilizations that don't exist, and continuously creating dwarves out of thin air. In the old game, you would get a couple immigrant waves, but that was it, after that point, no more dwarves created out of thin air. Most of us assumed this was simply the last few dwarves in the entire world, coming from their hermit caves, or leaving human or elven communities where they might have lived. Now there's an infinite supply of dwarves from nowhere - it makes playing the "last dwarves" scenarios impossible, and a lot of us like those scenarios. While I can certainly create appropriate killing traps to kill every dwarf and caravan that arrives, that's really not what I want to do with my no-dwarves games. |

Oh I see what happened here. You read my bug report backwards. That other bug report was someone complaining about NOT getting dwarven caravans. My report is that I am when I'm not supposed to be. |

Indeed. 0000545 was fixed by creating immigrants and caravans out of thin air when dwarf civilizations were gone. Since that was a deliberate change made into the game I would say that it is working as intended. |
