Summary | 0003129: Unconscious pack animals get dragged around by the merchants/traders
Description | I had a caravan get attacked. The mule and donkey took extensive damage, were almost all red but still were walking around, even though they were unconscious. As soon as they walked over the traps leading to my depot, they were captured in the trap.
Steps To Reproduce | 1. Have a caravan arrive to trade 2. Have their animals get injured/unconscious. 3. Watch as the merchant attached to them drags them around the map running away from assailants.
Additional Information | Happened twice. Both times the animals and their wares were inside the trap. I had two hard crashes when I went to access the trade goods. However, when I built the cage, the goods magically appeared outside the cage, once in the same square as the built cage and once where the animal was captured. The bug, to me, is that you should not be able to lead around an unconscious pack animal. Accidentally deleted the save. If it happens again...

finally - a save! http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=4153 [^] In this save there is a merchant dragging around an unconscious over-exerted winded water buffalo. North east corner. The merchant has been dragging the buffalo for 20 tiles or more. Unpause the game and you'll see the merchant drag the beast some more before it finally dies. |

I've just experienced this with 0.31.25 (linux, using Phoebus v23). In my case it is an elf merchant dragging his unconscious pack horse around while a goblin spearman repeatedly smashes the horse's skull. I thought at first the horse was recovering and moving on its own, only to "give into pain" again, but confirmed this was not the case by pausing and stepping through what happens. [edit] just noticed he lost his save, so i'll save mine right where it is. u -> Ozud Etkukolngo, Goblin Spearman -> c then step through the game to watch it happen. http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=5334 [^] |

I can confirm that this behavior also occurs in 0.34.11. I had an Elven Merchant dragging an unconscious Water Buffalo around the map as it was being bludgeoned by a Minotaur. I guess if traders leading pack animals are trying to flee they should abandon their animals once they are unconscious rather than just once they are dead? |
